Hello all! Hope everyone is having a good day. Today is the last day of classes! Here is what has happened in the past couple of weeks:
- Got my ticket for Can't Stop The Serenity! SO EXCITED! This is my first Firefly/Serenity related event so I am very excited for it. Haven't been this excited since I got my ticket for "The Two Towers." I'm silently wishing that someone will break out and starting singing the theme song and everyone joins in. It's all for a good cause...proceeds go to Equality Now, a women's advocacy group that was partly founded by Lee Stearns, the mother of Joss Whedon who created Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's also our way of saying "Happy Birthday" to him because the screenings are arranged around June 23, Joss' birthday. The best part is that CSTS is six days before my birthday and two days after, "Death at A Funeral" with Alan Tudyk (Wash) is released. This is going to be the best birthday ever!
- Found out today that FOX cancelled "Drive." So sad...never got to see. I feel like a bad Browncoat for doing so. Now I have another reason to hate FOX. I can't believe that some people are being cruel towards Nathan about the cancellation. Sample topic line from IMDB: Chalk up another failure for Nathan Fillion. Sheesh...it's not his fault, give him a break. He has "Waitress" coming out soon, the yet to be annouced DVD release of "White Noise 2" (which got positive reviews overseas) and the much anticipated special edition release of Serenity. These are probably the same people who post that Serenity is such a terrible movie on the boards for Serenity and Firefly where Browncoats, like me, visit. BAD IDEA.
- Related to school is that I got out of one of my finals. Two of my finals, this one included, are optional in that if you have a 90 or above, you do not need to take the final. In my case, I have a 91 in my NATS 102 class so I don't have to take the final.
- Somewhat related to school but not really is the release of 28 Weeks Later. It's related to school because it comes out on the last day of school, May 11. Now, I intially had my reservations because Danny Boyle, Alex Garland, Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris were not coming back. But, while watching the previews before "Hot Fuzz" came on (fantastic movie BTW,) the trailer popped up. Looks good but doesn't have the same feel as it's predecessor. Even so, as a horror fan, I will do by duty and go see 28 Weeks Later, despite my reservations. I don't do this for all horror movies such as the 'remake' of "Day of the Dead" which by the looks of the trailer, is made-for-DVD material.
Well, that's all. Need to get back and do QUIA. Bye.
